Here’s an episode with the two most unlikely characters stuck in an uncomfortable situation: Penny and Sheldon. ‘The Adhesive Duck Dificiency’ is definitely one of the funnier entries into season 3 of The Big Bang Theory.
Sheldon’s World
It wouldn’t surprise me if creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady conceived Sheldon with Asperger’s or some other condition that allows him to be so utterly out of this world. I’m sure many viewers have wondered about Sheldon and his ability to have any romantic inklings. While I wouldn’t say it’s impossible, but seeing Penny’s naked body and not getting aroused is a surefire sign that it’s definitely not going to be a stroll in the park.
I don’t know if the show will ever take Sheldon down a romantic path, but he’s doing just fine entertaining the world with his perspective. Of course, Penny girl-next-door demeanor only adds to the comedy.
High as the Stars
While it’s a little cheap to use marajuana as a comedic tool, it certainly doesn’t detract from the humor. I’m not sure if the storyline adds anything new to Leonard, Raj and Howard as we know it, but it does give away some surprise secrets. For one, the camping trip confirms Howard’s affinity to cougars and the general older female demographic. For another, the man lost his virginity to his cousin. Yep, and you thought he couldn’t get any creepier.
While this is really a distraction for the main dynamic between Penny and Sheldon, it serves its purpose. ‘The Adhesive Duck Deficiency’ is a laugh-out-loud fun ride with the use of a lot of drugs. It’s not the brightest idea, but it works for The Big Bang Theory.

I really do keep meaning to DVR this season of Big Bang Theory. I loved last season, but I might end up having to wait on the DVDs or reruns to catch it, and that makes me slightly sad.

We must not assume that Sheldon was not aroused while helping Penny with her dislocated joint. After all, He lingered while helping her with her shirt only to find out that he was holding her breast. Moreover, a case can be made for Sheldon being the more appropriate partner for Penny. Though not physically strong, Sheldon has a strong personna, displayed in his teaching physics to Penny. He is more of an authority figure than his friend Leonard. Sheldon also possesses a dominant attitude toward Penny in her lifestyle, pointing out that she is not neat nor smart and saying it with unabashed arrogance. A quality that Penny is more comfortable with than the lilting caspar milktoast personality of leonard. They’re other telltale signs that Sheldon is the real right guy for Penny. Sheldon knows football, he doesn’t like it but he knows it. He bowls and Penny bowls. This is a true bonding sport for any couple. Sheldon can comfort Penny and she can comfor him. Penny is more like Sheldon’s mom than she is like Leionard’s mom. So if the old adage that a boy marries someone like his mother holds true, than Penny is a better wife for Sheldon than she is for Leonard. I’ll think of more facts that support this theory. This is a good start.
