Desperate Housewives 6×09 ‘Would I Think of Suicide?’

'Would I Think of Suicide?' is heavier on the drama than humor.  For veteran Desperate Housewives fans, this episode may feel rather bleak.  It also signals the beginning of the show's annual mid-season cliffhanger, where melodrama reigns supreme. Double Suicide The implication of not one, but two suicide attempts in one episode is definitely a sign of how the episode weighs on the drama/comedy scale.  This is not entirely a bad thing.  In fact, in my mind this is one of the season's best ...

Black Friday DVD Hunting

I have to admit, I have a thing for box sets.  They contain hours upon hours of leisurely entertainment, special features, and they look so good on my bookshelf.  Despite what some may think, I'm a fairly frugal person, but downloading it just doesn't compare to the physical ownership of a DVD set.  Here are just a few fine collections that I recommend, many of which I have the pleasure of owning. Friends No explanation needed.  In short, the box set has all 10 seasons combined into one.  ...

Glee 1×11 ‘Hairography’

What happens when great moments come at a price?  That seems to be the struggle with Glee as of late.  With great messages and even greater song numbers, sometimes the story just doesn't have the room to make it believable.  Take 'Hairography' as an example... The Sound of Music If the number with the deaf students was standalone (as a music video or something), it would be fantastic and moving.  Sticking it in the middle of an episode of Glee mainly about distractions, however, is a bit o...

Modern Family 1×09 ‘Fizbo’

The reward of seeing a television series grow is being of part of its success.  So far, Modern Family has been both critically acclaimed and solid with its viewership.  As the winter hiatus looms ever closer, episodes like 'Fizbo' definitely amps up the fun factor, and its pays off. Fizbo the Clown While Modern Family (as stated in last week's review) works best when the entire cast is together, Cameron--by his very nature--tends to be the one to go to for some incredible laughs.  By incre...

V 1×04 ‘It’s Only the Beginning’

When they say it's only the beginning, I truly believe it.  The final episode before V's long hiatus certainly ends on a high note. Slice and Dice One of my complaints about the show is its lack of originality.  There's something to be said about a show that has all the right ingredients for a hit, but lacks the extra bit of flare to really hit it out of the park.  'It's Only the Beginning', however, is once again an improvement from the previous episode by giving us a few unique moments i...
