The Ending

They say the only thing more difficult than writing a beginning is writing the ending.  It would seem I have dug myself a hole with that one. With all my focus on pilots, premieres and cliffhangers, I have unconsciously suffered a disease that should be remedied right away.  I cannot write endings.  Sure, with TV pilots that is probably the last thing writers worry about (let's face it, it is all about getting the show to go on so you can get paid), but with every other form, it is of the utm...

The Television Christmas Greeting!

Despite a very chilly Christmas season, it warms my heart to see the television industry taking more risks than before.  Thanks to a tumultuous economy and the success of cable television, dark horse hitters like Glee and Modern Family have the chance to prosper under a climate that is still incredibly overly scrutinizing when it comes to ratings.  So, in addition to a very merry Christmas, I would like to instill some hearty laughter in your television holiday season as well. Yes, there are ...

Writers and Their Environment

While it's been some time since I've posted, I am happy to report that it is not by any means due to a lack of productivity in terms of writing.  After a lull, my motivation is back with a new script idea.  The feeling of creativity is great. I admit, I get di...

The Big Bang Theory 3×11 ‘The Maternal Congruence’

With Christine Baranski guest starring in the show's Christmas episode this season, there's a lot of high expectations in the air for The Big Bang Theory this week.  While I am not a big fan of Baranski's character (Beverly, Leonard's mother), the episode is bolstered in entertainment thanks to an immense amount of alcohol. Beverly the Cruel Again, I much prefer Sheldon's mother to Beverly.  Beverly is dry in an undermining way, and she is the carbon copy of Sheldon's archetype.  While She...

Fringe 1×10 ‘Grey Matters’

"How can I fight what I don't understand?" The episode to capitalize on many pieces of the puzzle introduced on Fringe, 'Grey Matters' is perhaps the most rewarding episode of season 2. The Butterfly Effect Although the show has many questions left to answer, what I enjoyed most about 'Grey Matters' is the gathering of many elements into a clearer origin of the conflict at hand.  It's hard to imagine the sarcastic, slightly boyish Peter as the catalyst to a potential universe-clashing c...
